End of Year Reflections with Oversoul | Goal Setting and Self Reflection

Breath Is the Bridge. Coherence Is the Path.

The new year is a time of reflection for many people. The world at large seems to get lost inside the shuffle of reflection, regret, and goal setting. But is this at the expense of our own breath alignment? Are we setting ourselves up for failure by goal setting without breath coherence???

Being in alignment with our breath means that we choose ourselves. It means that we break up with the way the world has told us to live and fine-tune what joy, peace, purpose, and surrender actually mean to us.

In my youth, I would spend hours creating vision boards and journal entries, reflecting on my life and mentally punishing myself for the things I didn’t get right and the goals I didn’t meet. I would diligently write out a list of all the things I was going to do differently in the new year and how my life would look different.

But now, reflecting back on all that energy output, I recognize that none of the things I reflected upon or rushed to goal-crush were breath-aligned or soul-aligned.They were always aligned with the noise of the world and with keeping up with the standards that others were setting for me. But my voice, it was completely absent.

I was trying to control my path, my journey, by curating exactly how each phase of the new year would look and play out. And if I missed a goal or a punchline, I would shame myself. Because New Year’s resolutions aren’t typically aligned with Oversoul or breath in the traditions we currently have in place, I would always end the year beating myself up and feeling like I failed because I didn’t meet the goals I had written for myself.

But when you’re just writing goals for the sake of trying to control your life (a trauma response of and by itself for many of us!) and you’re not writing goals that are aligned with your breath, you’re not writing goals you can actually achieve.

You’re basically setting yourself up for failure in that moment, because you are not breath-aligned.

When we move from pressure rather than coherence, we can push ourselves further away from what our deeper knowing is trying to reveal.

Goal Setting and Self Reflection

Now, post menopause, with the gift of wisdom and soul-aligned breath, I recognize that winter isn’t about reflection or goal setting. Now, winter for me is a time of living in the present, being appreciative, without judgement, of all the gifts that unfolded in the year for my growth and breath alignment. Winter for me represents slow mornings, early sunsets, and walking in alignment with my own circadian rhythm.

There’s a great gift that comes with removing the pressure of highlighting your failures and writing a list to course-correct those failures. Instead, view all of your experiences as teachable moments, extracting the lessons you’ve learned and the wisdom you’ve gained, and allowing where you are in this present moment to be the exact place where your breath returns to you without having to perform or be anything else other than who you are in this moment.

Am I saying that goals aren’t important? Of course not. We all need goals. We all need hope. We all need something to look forward to. But ending our year focusing on failures and starting the new year focused on things we need to change in order to be better, that’s just not serving us anymore, not as a society, and definitely not as the feminine goddesses of love that we all are.

What if you gave yourself permission this year to reflect only on the lessons you’ve learned, the blessings that have come from those lessons, and the stillness of your present breath, and let that be enough?

Trusting that the new year will unfold with magic and beauty simply because you are magic and beauty, and that your highest and best is always around every corner when you allow it to unfold organically and naturally. You harmonize with your Oversoul, with your breath, and with the magic of each moment as it’s intended to enter your field.

You are not lost, not broken, and not late. You are exactly where you need to be.What does your breath want to say next?

Warm Love,

,Luna
