Why I Stopped Letting Fear Make the Plan | Letting Go Of Control
Reflections on hustle culture, autopilot, and learning to let breath lead

There was a time in my life when sticking to the plan felt like the only thread holding me together. And by sticking to the plan, I mean sticking to my plan in its entirety, with no exceptions. Changes were not allowed. Spontaneity was not welcome. Anything unplanned had the power to send my nervous system into a full tizzy. The effects were not subtle either. There was ranting, emotional spiraling, frustration, sometimes tantrums, and sometimes tears.
This is Part 4 of The Breath Spiral Method™ Series. You can read:

Part Three here Why I No Longer Breathe For Other People
At the time, I thought I was staying calm by staying in control. But truth be told, there was no true calm there. Not the peaceful kind of calm that comes from living in the moment, being present in the body, and being one with breath. It was the superficial kind of calm we sell ourselves when our nervous system has learned that control equals safety. It was the kind of calm that whispers, This will work out because I have controlled every aspect of it.
But that was not true power. That was not real control. That was my nervous system spiraling inside the illusion of control, responding in the present to something that may have once been true in the past.
I was not in control. I was being controlled by fear.
Back in those days, I hustled. I strove. I worked hard for my life to look and feel a certain way. I had everything so tightly managed that there was no room for genuine play, creative detours, or the soft side journeys that make life feel alive. My plans became the walls of a very small room, and I called that room happiness.
My life was curated. From the outside looking in, it looked great! And for a while, it worked. Until it didn’t. My body and my nervous system eventually stopped me in my tracks and forced me to listen. Maybe you will see some of yourself here too.
All of that hustle, all of that striving, all of that white-knuckled devotion to the plan eventually led to a complete and total nervous system burnout. One day my body simply decided it was done with my nonsense. It shut down. And in that collapse, I was forced to face a deeper truth.
I had not been building a life from peace. I had been building a life from fear.
Fear of the unknown. Fear of what might be. Fear of what could go wrong. Fear of how others would view failure. Fear of not being enough. Fear of losing what I thought I had to hold together. Fear of, well, everything.
It took me several years to completely fall apart into a pile of goo and rediscover my true breath. During that time, everything in my life that had been built on fear’s control began to crumble, one illusion at a time. Relationships. Income streams. Housing. Health. Identity. Roles. The version of myself I had performed for survival. Every part of my life went through an energy purging cycle.
When we move out of fear and control and begin moving into love and surrender, the frequency of our inner world changes drastically. And when our internal energy shifts, our external reality begins shifting too. Fear and love do not create the same life. They do not shape the same choices. They do not open the same doors. They do not breathe the same geometry into the body.
I have said the expression “all of our dreams are on the other side of fear” many times throughout my life. But at this stage of my unfolding, those words began to mean something very different.
Because I finally understood that surrender was not giving up. Surrender was the moment I stopped letting fear pretend it was wisdom.
Realizing that all my “control” had not been control at all, but submission to fear, made me reflect on everything in a whole new way. If fear had been driving my decisions, what would life look like if I put fear in the passenger seat? What would it look like to live from my breath? What would it feel like to let my dreams have a voice? What would be required of me to actually trust love?
Be careful what you wish for. Because once I began asking those questions, life began answering. We all come in with an Oversoul plan for what we came here to experience in this lifetime, but we also come in with free will. This means that as we navigate life, we are always making choices. Those choices shape the reality we see in front of us and all around us.
At every fork in the road, there is a choice. One path will match our breath and ask us to trust something new. The other path will keep us on a familiar road of struggle, but it will not offer much change.
During pivotal transitions in life, we often find ourselves standing at one of these forks. One path leads toward our highest timeline, aligned with breath and the deepest desires of the Oversoul. The other path is led by fear and filled with valuable lessons.
I do not believe there is a wrong choice here. Either path will lead us toward our highest and best, because this is the free will of the Oversoul. We are allowed to choose our way through the spiral. One path may carry the lessons needed to burn fear away. The other may offer natural, breath-aligned expansion. Both can lead to the same place. The journey will simply feel different.
We choose based on the breath we are wrapped in at the moment of choice. Whatever breath we are living inside when we choose the path will shape the reality of that path. A path chosen from fear will offer lower-frequency experiences, not as punishment, but as lived experience. It will offer continued opportunities to meet fear, understand it, and move into love. A path chosen from love will offer higher-frequency experiences, not as reward, but as lived experience. It will offer continued opportunities within love that expand, grow, and spiral in that frequency.
Fear teaches through contraction. Love teaches through expansion. Both are part of the spiral.
When we open our field to truly living our highest timeline, and we choose this in love while offering surrender, we open the journey to experience more love.
Letting Go of Control
Before there is life, there is breath. From our very first breath, every inhale takes on a living geometry. Breaths taken in love become spirals of expansion. Breaths taken in fear become spikes of distortion. Each breath geometry becomes part of our living lattice of knowledge, weaving its way into the fascia. Each thread becomes part of the foundation for how we feel, how we think, how we expand, and how we contract throughout our lives. Letting go of control is what starts the transformation.

Whatever breath geometry wires an experience into the fascia field remains in that geometry until it is challenged, witnessed, softened, and released through a new breath. Anything wired into the system through fear will continue being influenced by fear until that fear is acknowledged and released through breath.
This is why breath is not just something we do. Breath is the key. Breath is the doorway. Breath is the living architecture that helps us return to ourselves.
Love is an expanding breath geometry. Anything chosen in love expands, grows, and spirals in that frequency, drawing in opportunities, relationships, experiences, and pathways that match that field. Love can transform fear, but love cannot lead if fear is still driving the life. To let love lead, we must first acknowledge where fear has been holding the wheel.
This is where The Breath Spiral Method™ begins. Not as a performance. Not as another self-improvement plan. Not as a new way to control the outcome. The Breath Spiral Method™ begins as a return to the inner light through reflection, breath, release, and honest witnessing.
It is the spiral of becoming. It is the moment we stop abandoning ourselves to keep old structures alive. It is the moment we notice where we are clenching, forcing, bracing, managing, controlling, and calling it peace. It is the moment we place one hand on the body, take one honest breath, and ask: Is this fear leading me, or is this love calling me forward?
Does this mean the path of love has no obstacles? Of course not. But it does mean that the obstacles are received differently. When we move from love, obstacles become guideposts. They become information. They become invitations to adjust, listen, soften, strengthen, and move forward with more clarity.
Not good. Not bad. Just information.
When we stay in fear, obstacles become restraints. They become evidence. They become reasons to shrink, stop, protect, and stay inside the familiar ache.
This is one of the ways I now understand surrender. Surrender is not drifting through life without direction. Surrender is listening deeply enough to know when the plan has become a prison.
Surrender is allowing the body to tell the truth. Surrender is trusting the breath when fear wants another spreadsheet, another guarantee, another perfectly mapped-out plan.
Surrender is not the absence of action. It is action led by breath instead of fear.
So the question I keep returning to now is simple: Where is fear still leading my life? Where does love want to lead me? What dream is living just on the other side of fear?
When I stopped forcing myself to stick to the plan, I did not lose myself. I began returning to myself. I began learning how to dance with fear as a companion, not a guide. Fear can still come along for the ride. I no longer need to shame it, reject it, or pretend it is not there. But it does not get to drive anymore.
Not when love is calling. Not when breath is speaking. Not when the spiral is already opening.
This is The Breath Spiral Method™. This is the breath returning. This is the plan I trust now. This is the spiral of breath that is helping the women I work with return home to their inner light and live their lives from their truth.
Are you ready to return to your truth? It’s right here waiting for you. It’s here to choose whenever you feel the call. You can read the Full Breath Spiral Method articles here.
